Booru Browser is an independent client application developed by Chris Watson (“I”, “me”). This policy explains exactly what the app does, and does not, do with your data. The short version: the app collects nothing and sends nothing to me.
No data collection
Booru Browser contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no telemetry of any kind. I operate no servers and never receive your usage, identity, search terms, or browsing activity.
Data stored on your device
Everything the app saves stays on your device and never leaves it:
- Server list and settings. The booru sites you add, stored in local app storage.
- Credentials. Any API keys, usernames, or cookies you enter are stored in the operating-system secure keychain (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore), never in plain storage.
- Favorites and downloads. Posts you save and media you export, kept in the app’s local storage and your photo library.
- Image cache. Temporary copies of images to make browsing fast.
You can erase all of this at any time by clearing the cache and downloads in Settings, or by deleting the app.
Connections to third-party sites
Booru Browser connects directly from your device to the booru servers you choose to add. The app ships with no default server list. When you search or view images, your device sends requests (including any credentials you configured for that server) straight to those third-party sites. Those services are operated by others and have their own privacy practices, which I neither control nor monitor. Please review the policies of any site you connect to.
Permissions
The app requests device permissions only for features you explicitly invoke:
- Camera. Used solely to scan a QR code when importing a server list.
- Photos and media library. Used solely to save images you choose to download.
You can decline these and the rest of the app continues to work.
Mature content and age
Booru Browser is rated 17+. Mature content is filtered out by default and remains locked behind an explicit age confirmation that you must enable yourself. The app is not directed to children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
